Adrian Stocks, Wastewater Field Operations Director for the Bureau of Water Quality at Wisconsin DNR, joined DNR in 2014 as the Wastewater Permits Section Chief. The Permits Section is responsible for policy development and implementation of the municipal and industrial wastewater program. 

He works closely with Region 5 EPA and coordinates compliance and enforcement reporting, permit reviews and ensures the permit program is consistent with federal regulations.After graduating from the University of Montana with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, he was an analytical chemist doing compliance testing for the New Mexico Environment Department and coordinated EPA-funded surface water quality monitoring programs on the Mescalero Apache Reservation. He returned to the Midwest, eventually working for Alliant Energy, where he was responsible for compliance and reporting under the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) as a licensed wastewater operator and helped deploy a fleet-wide Environmental Management System.
