Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative

John Dickert is the President and CEO of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative (Cities Initiative). The Cities Initiative works with more than 130 U.S. and Canadian mayors from across the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Basin to advance the protection and restoration of water resources to achieve a more environmentally and economically sustainable Great Lakes region.  

Dickert was a third-term Mayor of Racine when he resigned in 2017 to take the helm of the Cities Initiative. While Mayor, he served as a Director on the Board of the Cities Initiative for eight years. Previously, Dickert worked with First Weber Group, on the Government Affairs Team at the law firm of Foley & Lardner, as the former Director of Government Affairs for the Wisconsin Credit Union League. He also previously served as staff for members of the Wisconsin Congressional delegation and state legislators. Dickert graduated from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse with a degree in political science and mass communications in 1986.
